About The School

What's At Chisholm Elementary

Chisholm Elementary School is located in Montgomery County on the northeastern part of town. Chisholm Elementary was originally built in 1895 and has had major renovations and upgrades throughout the years. In 1995, two new wings were added to the school. One wing was designated for kindergarten to third grade and the other wing for fourth to sixth grade. At that time, a new lunchroom and library were also constructed. The school has 1.5 administrators, 45 teachers, 1 counselor, 1 librarian, 1nurse, and 20 support staff members. There are currently 610 students enrolled from kindergarten through fifth grade. In the recent past, the Character Education Team has promoted good character by performing school-wide Character Education Shows which highlight specific issues such as bullying, teamwork, and community service. They also rewarded students who regularly exhibited good character with monthly opportunities. The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) team promotes positive behavior in students with a "Gothca buck" reward system for being respectful, responsible, and resourceful (3R's). Students who are caught exhibiting any of these three attributes are verbally praised and given a "gotcha buck". Other support programs which promote good character and leadership include the student Council, library Aides and Honor Choir.
